Delaware’s blackened hardcore heroes Simulakra return with their new EP Reincarnation which is due out on March 15 from DAZE. Following the new EP’s religious themes, the band put out their debut single off the EP called “Heathen’s Prayer,” a powerful, devastating new track with single art that looks like two people holding books as they say a prayer to a giant glowing vagina.
The band recorded the five-track EP with Andy Nelson at Bricktop Recording this past fall and vocalist Dom Pabon said, in a statement reported on by Lambgoat, that he wrote the EP while struggling with serious health issues.
“On ‘The Infection Spreads’, I was dealing with a lot of severe health issues. I wrote about my experience being sick for so long and I used it as a diary essentially to get out how I felt about myself and how I viewed the world. This time around, I had time to fully flesh out tracks, being able to write different themes for each song, and lyrics in a style to have them more open to interpretation. After I was done writing everything, I noticed an overarching tone of spirituality so I definitely wanted to add that in the artwork as well. The title ‘Reincarnation’ encapsulates this entire EP perfectly, as though I feel like this EP is a reincarnation of the band. It’s us but at our purest, best form.”
We certainly hope that Pabon is feeling better after his health issues. The band have two upcoming shows scheduled including an appearance in Queens with Mindforce, Inclination, and Scarab. Check out the dates below.
