Hailing from the Bay Area, Rayana Jay’s latest project, Last Call, unleashes an armor of emotions that comes along with drinking alcohol.
Track two, “ATBO,” featuring City James, has a West Coast vibe from its beat to both of their cadences. Jay sings about how the stiff drink she’s sipping is settling in her system, promising to fight anybody that messes with her. James was the perfect feature choice, too.
“Blame It” is a melancholy song laden with a rhythmic piano, where a drunken Jay sings about wanting her insecurities and emotions soothed by the person she’s seeing.
The short and to the point, “Deep Enough,” finds Jay expressing how, under the influence of alcohol, she ends up texting an ex to link up with her and the meaning behind these interactions.
Other songs from the ten-song set include the previously released title track featuring Braxton Cook, “Unfair,” and “Whoroscope.” Outside of James and Cook, additional cameos come from Jane Handcock and Whogo.
Last Call follows Jay’s 2019 release, Love Like Me. Its title track featured Duckwrth.
