Mary J. Blige Celebrates Birthday With ‘Gone Forever’ Video

R&B

Mary J. Blige is celebrating her birthday (Jan. 11) with a new video. The R&B icon has released a visual for “Gone Forever” featuring Remy Ma and DJ Khaled.

On the no-nonsense anthem, Blige asserts to a love interest that she is not going to entertain anyone who toys with her heart.

“‘Cause when a good girl’s gone / She’s gone forever / Now you gotta deal with the fact you did me wrong forever,” Blige sings.

In the party-themed video, Blige flaunts various looks at a club, where friends surround her as they enjoy glasses of her Sun Goddess wine. Both Remy Ma, who also showcases different looks, and DJ Khaled appear in the visual.

“Gone Forever” is lifted from Blige’s Grammy-nominated album, Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe), released May 6, 2022. It’s Blige’s first video from the album since “Come See About Me” featuring Fabolous, which premiered in June 2022.

In October 2023, Blige returned with “Still Believe in Love,” a standalone single featuring rapper Vado. The Mtume-sampled track was accompanied by a summer-like video, filmed in Italy.

At the time of publication, “Still Believe in Love” is No. 1 for a third week on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart

“Still Believe in Love” Blige’s longest-running No. 1 on this chart since 2017’s “U + Me (Love Lesson)” from her album Strength of a Woman.

Rice, president of TV One and CLEO TV, stated: “Mary’s immeasurable talent and award-winning music has shaped our culture and has had a profound impact on artists and music across all genres, but most notably the elevation of female artists in both R&B and Hip Hop across generations. She fully personifies the ‘Best in Black’ theme of this year’s Urban One Honors.”
