We first introduced you to Alberta’s Culled back in 2018 on the eve of the release of their debut Thin the Herd, Fail to Learn here. Featuring ex-and-current members of Disciples of Power and Wake getting in touch with both sides of the velocity continuum via the grit and grime of Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer and Nasum, the band’s second release — unless you really want to count their pandemic release of them covering “You Suffer” — is about to clobber all and sundry tomorrow.
Entitled Psycles, the band’s newest is a five-song EP that sees the quartet expanding their sonic wingspan with some of the longest and most dynamic songs of their canon rubbing crusty and grease-stained shoulders with punchy sub-two minute ragers. As well, Psycles sees them making a shift from blatant political call-outs to an exploration of the current state of our collective consciousness.
