Dawn Richard Releases ‘Mornin | Streetlights’ Video

R&B

Dawn Richard isn’t stopping for anything as it relates to her newly-released album Second Line. The New Orlean native has released a video for the split track “Mornin | Streetlights.”

The black-and-white visual directed by Zebretta Johnson features Richard and two dancers in sync with a tight routine shot in front of a forested area. Some scenes find Richard alone, playing to the camera in an oversized Scarfare jacket and white one-piece swimsuit.

“Mornin | Streetlights” marked the fourth offering from Second Line, the follow-up to Richard’s 2019 release New Breed. She talked about the significance of the album in an interview with Rated R&B. She also told us what she hoped listeners would take away from the LP.

She stated, “I want them to have a cathartic experience. I want them to levitate. I want them to feel hope. I want them to feel like this is a calling, especially to people who have ever felt like they didn’t have lanes, spots, spaces. I don’t want us to feel pity and self-hurt.”
