Carcosa (Andrew Baena, Angelmaker) Unveil Deathcore Bruiser “Descensus”

Metal

For most of the metal world, our introduction to Carcosa came in the form of the hilarious video guitarist (and YouTuber) Andrew Baena and his bandmate, Angelmaker guitarist Johnny Ciardullo, published last month consisting of compliments delivered in a metal scream (sample: “You’re a true giiiift! To the people in your liiiiiife!” Tell me more, please!).

But Carcosa aren’t just a gimmick act, and indeed, the modern deathcore band will release their debut LP, Anthology, on August 19. Its first single, “Descensus,” has just hit the internet airwaves, and hoooo boy, it’s a bruiser!

Ciardullo explains:

“We’re incredibly excited to unleash this fresh hell upon unsuspecting ears (and eyes)! ‘Descensus’ is by far one of our most disgusting and moody tracks to date. It’s spooky, scary and heavy.

“The lyrics complement all of the above, taking direct influence from the 2019 film ‘Saint Maud,’ which delves into the schizophrenic mind of a traumatized born-again Christian nurse. She spirals down a dark, self-righteous path that all ends in flames. What more could you ask for?”

Check out “Descensus” below. Pre-order Anthology here.
