Burial in the Sky Unveil Progressive Death Metal Ripper, “Anatomy of Us”

Metal

Good news for those of you who are into the more progressive, adventurous varieties of metal: Burial in the Sky are here to scratch every single itch your body has ever or will ever have.

On “Anatomy of Us,” an ambitious 13-minute track that begins with a two-minute-long Pink Floyd-esque intro with acoustic guitar and electric slide, the Pennsylvania-based act run the gamut from quiet introspection to searing brutality, chunky grooves and everything in between, with some nifty lead guitar work and catchy melodies to boot. There are even some keyboards, string orchestrations and melodic vocals thrown in, and some saxophone courtesy of Zach Strouse, best known in the metal world for his work with Rivers of Nihil.

Give “Anatomy of Us” a stream below. Burial in the Sky’s new album, The Consumed Self, drops on August 13.
