In case you missed it — which you clearly did not — Gojira played the opening ceremony of the Olympics. This is objectively a cool thing, but of course metalheads on the internet had to complain about it. What is the endgame here? Why complain? Is it just a manifestation of this sort of toxic contrarianism that seems to have garnered a stranglehold over half the scene? Or are you just being a little bitch?

Why the hype?
Man, I feel like it’s been a while since we covered a band this RAW. Yes RAW is the word here to describe this basement-dwelling crust-covered bludgeonings of western New York’s finest (do you ever start a sentence and just not know where it’s going?). Ate share members with Hallucination Realized and Electric Bath (R.I.P.) and you can tell. Every note in every riff is covered in that special kind of slime that you can only conjure up through a proper mince grindcore recording. Shit like this would make Agathocles proud. Speaking of…

Latest Release?
Demo ’24, self-released. There’s an Agathocles cover here! As nasty and dirt-dwelling as this demo is, the duo still find plenty of groove amidst all the sludge and grime. Who knows? Maybe someday they will play the 2042 Olympics when they’re held in Buffalo. And some of you motherfuckers will STILL complain about it.
