Cypriot heavy metal warlords Solitary Sabred return. Their new, slashing concept album Temple of the Serpent chronicles a journey to the lands of demonic djinns and undead sorcerers while witnessing an empire’s fall. Active since the beginning of the 21st century, this is the band’s fourth full-length record. It is also their catchiest and sharpest record to date. You don’t even need to rush into battle to hear it, just press play below to hear an early stream, courtesy of Decibel Magazine.
“The Skeleton King” is a strike of battle adrenaline driven by blood-splashed steel and the dueling guitars of Demetris “Spartacus” Demetriou amd Nikolas “Sprits” Moutafis. Their guitar tone is tough as nails while still nailing a melodic majesty. Meanwhile, vocalist Petros “Asgardlord” Leptos wails about ancient lands and dark magic with unfettered grandeur. He brings a snarling intensity to “Spectral Domain” while summoning his inner King Diamond on “Bound by the Lich.” Listening to the album, it’s no surprise Solitary Sabred has shared the stage with heavy metal giants like Manilla Road, Helstar, Jag Panzer, Metal Church, and Sabaton. Down to the final clash of “Gates of Namtar,” Temple of the Serpent is a resounding and rollicking celebration of epic heavy metal.
Solitary Sabred describes the album’s inspiration: “A king who craved for godhood bringing forth the fall of Sumerian empires. That was the historical spark of inspiration, which we put together into our own mythological tapestry. The thread, as always, was classic U.S. oriented heavy/epic metal. Metal magic from our hearts to your ears, summoning demons and unleashing the bloodlust!”
Rattle your swords and your ears and listen to Solitary Sabred below for the album’s December 15th release.
