Mary J. Blige’s ‘Still Believe in Love’ Spends Fifth Week at No. 1 on Billboard


Mary J. Blige’s optimistic single “Still Believe in Love,” featuring Vado, logs its fifth consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. 

It’s Blige’s longest-running No. 1 since 2016’s “Thick of It,” which dominated the chart for 16 weeks. The Jazmine Sullivan-penned hit appeared on Blige’s defiant album, Strength of a Woman. 

Here is a breakdown of all of Blige’s No. 1 hits on the Adult R&B Airplay chart:

  • “Be Without You,” 14 weeks at No. 1 (2006)
  • “Thick of It,” 16 weeks at No. 1 (2016)
  • “IfULeave,” Musiq Soulchild featuring Mary J. Blige, 8 weeks at No. 1 (2009)
  • “Still Believe in Love,” 5 weeks at No. 1 so far (2024)

“Still Believe in Love” was released as a standalone single on Oct. 27, 2023, via Blige’s Beautiful Life Music label. It marked her first taste of new music since her 2022 album, Good Morning GorgeousThe album spawned the No. 1 hit “Good Morning Gorgeous,” which spent four weeks atop the Adult R&B Airplay chart. 

The deluxe edition of Good Morning Gorgeous scored Blige her first Grammy nomination for Album of the Year as a lead artist. Blige was the second-most nominated artist at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

The title track, produced by D’Mile and H.E.R., received the following nods: Best R&B Song, Best Traditional R&B Performance and Record of the Year. “Here With Me” featuring Anderson .Paak received a Best R&B Performance nod. 

Speaking of awards, Blige recently received the Entertainment Icon Honor at the Urban One Honors, taped in Atlanta, Georgia. The ceremony airs Sunday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. ET on TV One and simulcast on CLEO TV.
