Yo Gotti made his first public appearance since the murder of his older brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, on Friday night (January 19). A video of the CMG boss performing at a 42 Dugg concert in Detroit started the making the rounds just hours later. In the clip, Yo Gotti is wearing a bulletproof vest under his shirt as he performs—just in case.

It’s unsurprising Yo Gotti is taking safety precautions. Mims was shot and killed on January 13 at Perignons Restaurant and Event Center in Memphis, shortly after leaving a relative’s funeral. Two men were injured during the shooting. One man—later identified as Mims—was rushed to a hospital, where he died. The other man arrived at St. Francis Hospital by private vehicle and was listed in critical condition. Police believe they were both targeted.
It didn’t take long for Twitter to connect the shooting to Young Dolph, who was fatally shot in Memphis more than two years ago. Yo Gotti and Young Dolph were beefing at the time of his death, and many are assuming Mims was killed in retaliation. Yo Gotti has yet to comment on the matter publicly. Police have obtained surveillance footage of the shooting but have not been able to identify the suspect.
