Phabo Shares ‘XTC’ Video

Phabo has shared a video for “XTC,” a song from his sophomore album, Don’t Get Too Cozy.

The music video was co-directed by Matthew Kaplan and Khufu Najee. It features Phabo and his friends vibing out in a warehouse, dressed in white t-shirts and throwing cash in the air.

Phabo and his crew are seen having fun in front of a chattering teeth novelty toy, possibly mocking those who gave him false hope in his career.

In a Rated R&B interview, Phabo revealed that “XTC” was recorded during his Soulquarius album sessions. He shared that it’s based on his experiences with A&Rs who didn’t believe in his songwriting early on.

“I’m speaking very honestly. It’s a diary entry that I wanted to throw on the project regarding my career and the people that had me fucked up,” Phabo explained to Rated R&B.

In that same interview, Phabo dived into other tracks and shared what he hoped fans would take away from Don’t Get Too Cozy.

“It’s purposely peaks and valleys placed throughout the project so that you don’t get too comfortable in any mindset,” he stated. “It’s just unpredictability in that sense. New words, new inflections, new beat patterns [and] new cores.[It’s] more authenticity from the start to the finish.”

Don’t Get Too Cozy was released June 18 via The Orchard/Soulection. The album features guest appearances by Arin Ray, Ambré and Shaé Universe. It includes singles such as “Out Of Touch” and “Casamigos.”

Phabo is currently accompanying Kiana Ledé as a special guest on her Grudges Tour. He had scheduled a headlining tour for this fall but has since canceled his North American dates. He intends to perform his three shows planned in Europe in December. Tickets for these shows are available on his official website.
