Toni Braxton Signs Production Deal With Lifetime, A&E Networks

R&B

Toni Braxton continues to expand her empire. The R&B icon has signed an all-inclusive deal with Lifetime and A&E Networks, in partnership with her production company, Braxtoni Productions, to oversee and executive produce multiple projects for the network.

“Lifetime has been home to my film and TV projects for the past decade. My team and I are looking forward to continued success with the network as we bring projects to life for the audience that has so graciously welcome us into their homes over the years,” says Braxton.

Tanya Lopez, EVP of Scripted Content, Lifetime & LMN, adds, “We are thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with Toni and continue to have her as part of the Lifetime family. We love partnering with her on storytelling, whether it be a heart-warming holiday romance or a gritty new project, Toni is an excellent producing partner,  a wonderfully versatile actress, and our audiences have shown us just how much they love seeing her on our air.”

Braxton’s recent entrance into a broad joint venture with Lifetime and A&E Networks comes on the heels of her 10th-anniversary with the network.

She first collaborated in 2013, when she starred as a single mother and lead singer in a gospel choir in Twist of Fate, a music-infused film directed by Paul A. Kaufman.

Three years later, Lifetime premiered Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, a record-shattering biopic that chronicled Braxton’s life and career. She executive produced the film and made a cameo toward the end.

Braxton continued to focus as much on her acting career as on music, appearing in a number of the network’s original films, including Faith Under Fire, Everyday is Christmas, and most recently, the Fallen Angels Murder Club anthology — Heroes and Felons and Friends to Die For. She had an executive producer credit for all four movies.

Additionally, A Christmas Spark, which reunited Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman leads Jane Seymour and Joe Lando, had Braxton attached as executive producer.

There are no additional details on Braxton’s new venture with Lifetime and A&E Network at this time.

Braxton’s last full-length album, Spell My Name, arrived in August 2020. The album, released on Island Records, debuted at No. 21 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.

Spell My Name featured the singles “Do It” and “Gotta Move On” featuring H.E.R. Both tracks topped the Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, the former of which had a three-week run at No. 1, while the latter had two weeks atop.

Since then, in 2022, Braxton’s 2005 album Libra has been uploaded to streaming platforms for the first time. That summer, she collaborated with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for their 2021 album, Jam & Lewis, Volume One.

That same year, Braxton introduced her new body care brand, Nude Sugar.
